How to Get Noticed by Google

Page One of Google;  The Holy Grail of online marketing.   With 67% of all monthly searches being performed by Google, they are still the top search engine and to hold a much converted spot on their first page of results puts your business right in front of their 300 million daily users.

So, how do you compete, and win, the race?  With well over 1 million other advertisers all jostling for 1st, getting it right is important.  Here at Websmart, we have put together our combined SEO knowledge and have compiled a list of easy tips and tricks that will definitely give you an advantage.

1. Make use of Google Merchant Promotions

When you search for a product on Google, above the list of search results, you get a sponsored box that contains pictures of different products that are related to your search.  These are Merchant Promotions, and they give you, the seller, the opportunity to highlight your product and your price.  The consumer see’s the product and the benefit of buying it from you at the precise moment that they are making the decision on who to buy from, which will help to increase conversion rates and drive traffic to your site.

2. Ask your audience using Google Consumer Surveys

Google Consumer Surveys have been around for a while, and they are a great resource as they allow you to poll your audience and measure their reaction to what you are doing.  That way, you can adjust your campaign or strategy depending on current trends within your key demographic

3. Keywords & Site Maps

We’re not saying stuff your page full of unnecessary keywords, just to get hits.  This will undoubtedly get you noticed, but for all the wrong reasons and you will be removed very quickly.  What we mean is make sure that your file names and meta descriptions for each page are accurate and correctly used depending on your company and services.  Include a site map, which you submit to Google for indexing, which will have you well on your way to becoming a Google search result favourite

4. ‘Cross Linking’ or regularly updating your content

Keeping the content of your site fresh and updated means that Google has to keep coming back to your site to see what you have done.  Blogging is one of the best ways to keep your site fresh, without having to change your actually content all the time.  There’s only so many ways that you can explain what you do, right?  But a well written blog entry posted onto your site will keep Google coming back for more!

There are of course, many other ways to get yourself up there, with tried and tested SEO tactics being discovered every day, however these should be enough to get you started.  Of course, if at any point, you feel you need help or would like to take SEO for your business one step further, then you can contact our team who will be happy to discuss your options with you.
