If your search traffic is somewhat sluggish, Websmart would like to introduce you to a checklist that could well help you solve that slow-moving problem very quickly indeed. What follow’s here is, in fact, the top five SEO mistakes that webmasters fall foul of most often. Once you know them – and how to avoid them – that elusive traffic should be well on the way to becoming a torrent.

1. The way your site is structured makes it hard to crawl.

OK, forgive the question, but it’s important: do you even have a domain name of your own? Or is your online presence hiding behind someone else’s (like yoursitename@blogspot.com) in which case, you won’t only be hard for search engines to find, you’ll be tough to crawl. If you are among the domain-nameless, Websmart will help you choose one that’s self-descriptive and easy on the search engines.

You really need Google (and all the other search engines) to be able to crawl your site easily. To do this, Google uses web crawlers, otherwise known as bots, or more often, Googlebots, which find and index pages by following links. So, if you conceal your finest content by making it hard to find, Google will simply not crawl, index or rank it. This is not good.

To avoid this situation take a good look round your website to ensure you (and therefore anyone else) can find the pages you want to be found by clicking on regular links. And do your test in a text browser (from Google’s search results, click on Google’s cache of your page/site, and then click the “Text-only version” link).

2. You’re not using words people actually search for.

Just think to yourself, if I was searching for this site, which search terms would I use?

So, for example, let’s imagine your site is about a cure for male pattern baldness. Yes, of course use ‘cure for male pattern baldness.’ But also consider including alternatives your potential customers may type into their search box, such as ‘thinning hair,’ ‘bald spot getting bigger’ and ‘the alternative to a toupee.’ Put yourself in the position of the person you want to find your site. Don’t make it too hard for them to comb the web for you.

3. It’s about so much more than link building.

Yes, of course, link building is important. But certainly, we always also help our clients ensure their site is filled with compelling – and constantly refreshed – content, because that’s what Google wants. We also guide them towards other powerful publicity mechanisms, such as PR and social media, in addition to offline candidates like advertising and guerrilla marketing.

4. Bad titles and descriptions are a bad move.

If your page title is something bland like ‘Untitled,’ or so obscure that it would be hard for a visitor to find later if he or she bookmarked it, you’re in bad trouble. Our team is skilled in writing title tags that readers and search engines love. Meta descriptions, too – we’re experts in the creation of descriptions that are as appealing to your visitors as they are for Google.

5. Not using Webmaster Resources can be webicide.

It’s all there and it’s all free. Google is awash with valuable resources, including Webmaster Tools, articles, forums, blogs and videos – just search for “Top Google Website Optimization Resources.” The Google Team is often to be found in attendance and keen to share information at search conferences. And their major competitors, like Bing and Blekko, do the same sort of selflessly generous things.

So, that’s the top five SEO mistakes and how you can so easily avoid them.

Here’s a video Google’s Search Aficionado Matt Cutts recently posted on this topic:

Anyone with extensive experience – and that includes us here at Websmart – knows that effective digital marketing is not a one tactic solution, but a multifaceted art, requiring a carefully assembled combination of complementary skills and techniques, selected and deployed to suit each client’s specific needs.

These include:

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising
Social Media campaign planning
Content creation including targeted articles via online PR and guest blogging
Design strategy

Your ideal combination may be some of these options, or it could be all of them. And no-one is more qualified to advise you than us in helping to get this formula and the sequence in which it is used absolutely right.

PPC is a fast way to boost the number of relevant visitors to your site. By creating and managing your PPC campaign, we can ascertain which keywords are producing conversions and drawing most traffic, then apply this data to enhance your SEO in a virtuous circle of activity.

Applied to your PPC, SEO will help us develop your content, track user patterns, the relevance of your keywords and measure the conversions we are helping you achieve. What’s more, by optimising performance, we can help you reduce your daily PPC expenditure.

It’s important to add that we are Google Adwords certified professionals, acknowledged as ‘white hat’ practitioners – which means we work in close cooperation with major search engines such as Google to ensure your site will never fall foul of their many prerequisites and rules, which can result in a website being penalised, relegated to a lower position in search rankings or worse still, suspended.

In addition to these elements, we may have recommended that rich media and banners are included in your online marketing mix, plus targeted content creation, with our team writing and placing articles for you via online PR and guest blogging. With SEO becoming more and more reliant on schema.org rich snippets, which require the attention of a developer, it’s an advantage to you that all the key skills – from coding to creative design and writing – are all in one place here at Websmart!

Finally, we integrate analytics software into every digital marketing programme we create, so we can measure everything from the likes and shares on your Facebook page (which we can design for you) to the click-throughs your search engine presence generates. All this crucial data is delivered to you in regular reports and forms the basis for ongoing refinement.

So, for a truly multifaceted digital marketing campaign that will get your business working in a Websmart way online, call us today on 01553 766760 or email sales@websmartstudio.co.uk

So, you’ve had that website of yours for a while. And now, something tells you it might be time for a rethink. But whether it’s a minor tweak that you’re considering or a total rebuild, in our experience (ten years designing and managing websites for companies of all shapes and sizes) certain important factors need to be thought through before you start. It’s about defining the problem, the reasons for change and the objectives. Whether you’re planning to make those amendments yourself or work with your web design agency, they’re the rational basis without which you should not proceed. And here they are …

Why are you doing this?

Seems obvious, but it’s a question you should ask yourself. Perhaps you feel the site no longer accurately describes what your business is about. You could be rebranding, changing your product or service offering? Perhaps it’s just too difficult to navigate or leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to the way it actually works for visitors. Or it may be that, against other – and especially competitors’ – sites, it just looks and sounds tired. Listing these criteria will form the foundation for putting things right.

Check your competitors’ sites competitively.

A little time spent exploring your competitors’ websites will be a rock solid investment. But be ruthless with yourself. If their sites seem better than yours in some way, make a note of why you think this is and how you could compete. What have they got that you haven’t? How can you learn from them? With these observations, you can make a plan that will help you to do things better – better than you’re doing them now and better than your competitors.

What about the technical implications?

You may be planning to keep your current domain name. Could be you’ve decided on acquiring a new one. Either way, your URL is another factor to bear in mind when you proceed with your redesign. To start with, the time your site is offline during the changeover needs to be minimised. And your optimisation could be affected by changes you make. Ensure that your web design agency is skilled in these matters, able to make the transition in a way that avoids traffic loss. For guidance from the googlemeisters themselves, take a look at http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=83105

As well as optimisation, you’ll also need to redirect email, update your passwords to any online services you use. Security is a priority. In all these matters, brief your in-house expert or make sure you’re working with professionals who know how to protect your interests.

Moving and updating your content.

It can take a long time to transfer all your content over to a new site. And as you move all that text, all those images, blogs, articles, comments and photo files over, the simplest way forward may be to keep the same CMS (Content Management System). But if you do want or need a new CMS, it’s advisable to ask the web design agency you choose to work with to automate this important but potentially time consuming task for you by writing scripts.

On the other hand, if you’re redesigning from the ground up, it’s actually a great chance to make sure all your content is saying just what you want before you start the new design – and this is by far right way round to do things – words first, design later.

Explain the change to your customers.

You’ve spent a lot of time and presumably money acquiring your customers. So, the last thing you want is for your new website to jeopardise their support. Which is why it’s important to explain that you’re improving the site to make it easier and more enjoyable for them to use – but to do this in plenty of time before you actually launch your new look. This is especially true if you’re rebranding, changing your email addresses or telephone numbers – just so your customers know these details in plenty of time.

Use your new design as a PR platform.

What you’re doing to your site is positive news, marking a move forward for your company. It’s not just good for you, but for your customers, proving your commitment to a keep on improving every aspect of your operation – all of which makes for excellent PR. Time to plan an email marketing programme to spread the news. Press releases to relevant PR agencies and publications. Reach out to appropriate bloggers and tweeters. In fact, if you haven’t got a social media presence yet, this is the perfect moment to get one started. All this activity will drive even more traffic to your new site.

Simplification is the name of the game.

People. Have. Short. Attention. Spans. So when you’re restructuring your website, the more succinct you can make the text and the simpler and more streamlined you can make it, the better. And importantly, you won’t only be making your new website quicker to comprehend and react to for your customers, you’ll also be creating content that can tend to load faster … making your site even better for search engines and for your visitors on yet another important level.

Listen to colleagues, but stay in control of your redesign.

Depending on the structure of your company, there may be a number of colleagues you’ll need to consult with as your redesign is developed. Of course, their opinions are valid and could be useful, as may any reactions you may gain from your customers as you progress through the project. But the final decisions should ideally stay yours and yours alone – whether you’re producing the redesign internally or working with an external agency, the decisive voice of the project should be singular, because committees only produce confusion and compromise.

What’s happening out there?

In the digital sphere, everything moves forward at the speed of light, but our advice is that it’s often a mistake to just automatically grab every new technological tool that happens along. On the contrary, do keep your eye open for innovations that may be appropriate to your project’s particular needs, but exercise caution with those that don’t. Also bear in mind that when new ideas first come along, they often need time to get the bugs out.

Your customers are going mobile.

One unstoppable trend you really should consider is the fact that more and more of your customers access the web on their mobile devices. Recent research says this figure is currently at around 69% with every indication that it will just go on climbing. So, it is vital to ensure your new site design is built to be responsive – meaning it will adapt automatically to the smaller screens of smartphones and tablets, with the same look and feel as when seen via a desktop on a bigger monitor. If you’re unsure about this, working with a good web design agency is the best policy.

Add the power of analytics.

There are some very powerful and therefore valuable analytics packages available and they can help you measure your site’s performance in all sorts of ways. The best known and some would say the most proven of these is Google Analytics, through which you can get reports on how well your competitors’ sites, as well as your own, are working and how they compare. Now is the right time to build analytics into your activities – before you even start your new design. The data analytics will help you make your redesign even better.

The more you tell your agency, the better.

We have no way of knowing whether you intend to conduct your redesign yourself, with an internal team, or by using a web design agency. But if you were working with us, (which obviously, we’d love you to be) one thing we’d say is please, please, please tell us as much as you can about your product or service, about your original site’s performance to date and crucially, about your feelings as the new design is developed. Experienced web design agencies like us are always happy to hear even the most negative comment as long as they’re accompanied by reasons why. As in not just, ‘I hate this idea/text/image,’ rather than, ‘I’m uncomfortable with this for the following reasons …’ We web designers want to work closely with our clients, to design and build their new site as a collaborative process.

Be ready to get feedback as soon as you re-launch.

It’ll be a great feeling. Your new site will be finished and working productively for your business. But before your re-launch, while you’re still finalising those last few aspects of the design, don’t forget to incorporate a feedback mechanism, a channel through which your users can communicate the quality of their experience on the new site once it’s live. Because as soon as you are up and running, you’ll need to know from your colleagues and customers how well your new site is functioning for them. And finally, make sure your team is ready to act fast to amend or correct anything they’re not happy.

We hope our advice here is useful to you in your plans to redesign your website. If you would like to discuss the possibility of our working together, we’d be delighted to talk to you.

The day that we launched Websmart was certainly one of the most significant occasions in our company’s life. That unforgettable experience was just over six years ago now. The time has flown by and of course, we’ve changed shape a lot since then.

Looking back, it was all very exciting and yes, just tiny bit chaotic. In fact, to be honest, there was an air of excitement which was bordering on hysteria! But it turned out to be the beginning of a fantastic journey which has seen us grow consistently and thrive despite the worst recession anyone could remember rearing its ugly head and proceeding to shake the foundations of so many businesses since its arrival.

Six years and over 300+ additional clients later, we’ve expanded so much that we’ve more than outgrown our 2 previous locations. We want our premises to be comfortable and efficient for our team to work in and of course, for our customers and suppliers to visit. Things have been getting mighty crowded round here and we knew we had to find somewhere new.

Having searched high and low, we’ve now found a perfect solution. And though
we have come a long way since our launch, we’re certainly not going far when it comes to
our new base … in fact, we’re simply taking on the office next door in addition to our
current space. That this property should have become available just as we need it is a real stroke of luck which we could not ignore.

This is a great move which actually involves not much moving at all. It’ll mean we have to go through none of the disruption which we’d face if we were moving to another building. It will more than double the space available to us, giving us enough room to accommodate extra team members and equipment, allowing us to get ready for a year that is already promising to be our busiest yet.

We pride ourselves on offering a truly comprehensive web design and online marketing service, covering everything a client could require to maximise his or her return on investment when it comes to making the most of the web as a business building tool. Our bigger new premises will enable us to continue doing just that in better shape than ever.

So, for the last few days, we’ve been surrounded by some very helpful builders, who are busy making the new space more Websmart. And on Monday 18th March, we’ll be moving in, stretching out and enjoying all that extra room. Our new address will become Unit 6 Oldmedow Road and we look forward to welcoming you there very soon indeed!

Just a month ago, we were absolutely thrilled and very proud indeed to announce that we had become a RAR Recommended Agency. As we said in our blog at the end of January, we were especially flattered by the news because an agency such as Websmart can only attain this prestigious status having proved to RAR that they meet some pretty tough criteria. That’s why being a RAR Recommended Agency really does count for so much in the highly competitive online world.

But now, we’ve just heard some more wonderful news from RAR – they’ve been kind enough to shortlist us for one of their 2013 awards! Well, we’re so far over the moon about this, we’re half way to Jupiter, feeling weightless with delight!

We’ve been selected in the ‘digital agency with under 30 staff’ category, cited for the high quality of our creativity and client service, as well as the value for money we deliver. What a wonderful accolade – thank you so much, RAR!

OK, no, we haven’t won yet, but even to be shortlisted for these important awards is extremely gratifying for all of us in the Websmart team. It’s yet more confirmation that we’re well and truly on the right path when it comes to the way we work, the commitment we put into practice every day to provide an up close and personalised, measurably effective, dependably economical service to our fast growing list of clients.

Looking back (with a great deal of professional pride), 2012 was without doubt a momentous year for us on the awards front. We were lucky enough to win three Heart Internet Awards – a beautiful bronze, a shimmering silver and then the ultimate prize, a glittering gold. With the possibility of an RAR Award on the horizon, it looks like 2013 could be just as rewarding!

It’s everywhere. It has become an integral part of our daily routine. It connects us in ways that nothing before has been able to and allows us to instantly share any aspect of our life that we may choose to. And not just for the purposes of our leisure and pleasure anymore, but increasingly, as a tool that can now be so easily activated to boost business by extending the reach of our enterprise beyond boundaries previously limited by our marketing budget – because it is largely still free of charge. It is of course, the seemingly unstoppable phenomenon of Social Networking.

Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn. And let’s not forget Instagram and Pinterest. These are presently the dominant players in the world of social networking, all of them growing explosively in terms of their appeal and usage, many of them interconnected through recent corporate acquisitions. But who knows how many newcomers to the realm of Social Networking may come along and be warmly embraced in this still relatively New Year? Who knows how far this awe inspiring entity has yet to grow?

One fact remains inarguable in the rapidly expanding social media universe: namely, that any business which fails to engage with and begin to exploit the rich seam of opportunity this medium presents will be seriously missing out. And here at Websmart, our team has established a demonstrable record of success in helping companies across a broad spectrum of sectors to successfully and productively build social networking for business into their programme of online activity.

Let’s look at some impressive figures that have emerged from recent research on the growth and use of social networking:

Incredible but true, there are now more devices connected to the internet than people on the planet. And 40% of those people now prefer to go online to do their socialising than they to have a face to face chat.

With every minute that passes, 100,000 Tweets are sent. In that same time, Google receives and processes another 2 million search queries, 48 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube, 684,478 items of content are shared on Facebook and 3,600 photographs are put on Instagram.

Dig deeper into these amazing facts and it becomes apparent that the major players are achieving huge membership numbers and usage patterns that anyone contemplating business focused social media will find extremely encouraging.

Facebook has 1 Billion users, of whom 552 million utilise the service every day. Twitter boasts 517 million users, with 6.9 million people active with them daily. Google+ membership has reached 400 million and enjoys 75 million visitors every day. LinkedIn stood at 175 million users at the time our research was conducted, with 25 million daily users. Instagram has hit 100 million members, with 7.3 million daily users. 25 million people have joined Pinterest and 4 million are spending time on the site every day.

No wonder, then, that social media is finding such favour with the business community. 2012 saw 34% of medium sized and 27% of small businesses incorporating social media into their marketing activities, which is a 10% increase on 2011. With 83% of the market, Facebook is now by far the leading social marketing tool for brands of all types and is expected to hit 88% in 2014. Twitter is streaking forward at 53% and plans to reach 64% by 2014.

And well worth noting is the measurable degree of success that companies using social media have begun to report. Indeed, 74% have said they experienced a significant increase in traffic to and through their company’s website after just 6 hours spent per week on social media activity. It is estimated that 62% of marketers are now using one or more social media network as part of their online marketing campaign, a figure expected to grow quickly in 2013.

We’d say these statistics don’t just speak for themselves, they shout loud and clear that the time has come for all businesses to share the rich brand-building opportunity that social media represents. So, to talk to us about how we can make social media work profitably for your business, just call us on 01553 766760 or email sales@websmartstudio.co.uk

One more thing (as Steve Jobs used to say) … at the end of this month, we’ll be making an exciting announcement that’ll mean good things for everyone we work with – and of course, as well as using this blog to do so, we’ll be using social media to tell you all about it!

There have been a multitude of milestones we can recall from the last few enjoyably hectic years as we’ve been busy developing Websmart. These include winning our first client,of course. Then there was netting our first award. And the heady excitement of grabbing our first office syndicate prize on the lottery (£10 – no, not each – between us).

But of all the many achievements that have marked our steady progress, one of the most significant is definitely recently having attained the much sought after status of becoming an RAR Recommended Agency. Seriously – this is no small accomplishment and we are extremely proud to have reached such an important turning point.

The Recommended Agency Register, as the name suggests, helps to focus and simplify the agency selection process for clients who are seeking a new agency for either a one off project or an ongoing appointment by supplying them with a shortlist of recommended contenders. It is a calculated, proven means to ensure clients avoid the time and money wasting tedium of taking a ‘stab in the dark’ in order to find their new agency. In short, using RAR enables them to make an enlightened and very well informed choice.

The key word here is, without doubt, ‘recommended,’ in that clients working through RAR can be absolutely sure that each agency on that diligently distilled, carefully compiled list meets their key criteria before they contemplate sitting across a desk or a presentation room with them.

But becoming a RAR recommended agency isn’t (and nor should it be) easy. This prized possession cannot be bought, it has to be earned on the basis of an exacting process that thoroughly scrutinises the agency’s history of being consistently capable of fulfilling the promises it makes to its clients.

To be considered, we had to provide RAR with details of all our key clients, as well as our resources and staff. This, plus a breakdown of our experience by sector and case histories which were required to describe our approach to the projects we’ve produced and their outcome.

But selection did not rest solely on our word or self-appraisal, because RAR also then contacted each of our clients and asked them to feedback scores out of 100 for every aspect of the Websmart service they have used. They were asked to tell RAR not just were they broadly satisfied or not with our work, but also, how pleased they felt with our ability to deliver their required levels of Client Service, Creativity, Innovation, Effectiveness, Strategic Thinking, Value for Money, Ability to Work on Time and Budget.

Only when at least three of our clients had returned ratings that RAR considered high enough to meet their standards would we be considered. Clients were also offered the opportunity to assess and comment on the performance of our key agency personnel and any specific work we had done for them that they felt relevant to their decision.

RAR then combined all this data with their own extensive experience, derived from decades spent dealing with agencies of every sort and clients of all types and sizes, offline as well as online, working across the entire communications spectrum. Over 14,000 clients have now used the RAR method of rating their agencies on recommendedagencies.com, including numerous major national and international brands.

And this result is – we’re an RAR recommended agency. An accolade that we are sure will be the beginning of another year of dynamic growth for Websmart, when we meet even more great new clients. To sum up how we feel – well, we’re RARing to go!

.

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year …” as Andy Williams will surely be warmly warbling to us in countless shops, restaurants and across the broadcast media over the few days left before The Big Celebration. We certainly agree – and it does indeed look like being by far the Webbyist Crimbo yet, with online shopping now more than ever proving to be the channel of choice across just about every market sector.

All we want for Christmas here at Websmart is another year as brilliant as 2012 has turned out to be for us, thanks to our burgeoning band of lovely clients! Over the last twelve months, we’ve been fortunate enough to continue helping some great local and national companies to make the most of the glittering business opportunity – a fitting description all year round, not just at Christmas – which the web represents.

We’ve been privileged to exercise our design, copywriting and SEO skills for a growing list of companies including, Sensient Technologies, (http://www.sensientindustrial-europe.com) for example. As world-renowned manufacturers of colours, flavours and fragrances, it’s highly likely that products they have developed will be adding extra sensory appeal to many of the gifts we’ll all be giving and receiving over yuletide.

2012 also saw us welcome Arbortec (www.arbotecforestwear.com) who, as their name implies, design and produce scientifically advanced, yet comfortably lightweight boots and gloves for foresters and arborists. Given the nature of their business, maybe your own Christmas tree will be among those felled by the hardy outdoor types who are so well protected by Arbortec’s excellent products.

While we’re out in the fresh air, let’s mention our new friends NBC Bird & Pest Control, (www.nbcbirdandpest.co.uk), the national network that so expertly delivers innovative and ethical bird, pest and wildlife control services for homes and businesses. We’re proud of the way the website we’ve produced for them tells the compelling story of how they help customers to manage bird and pest problems in a way that shows compassion and concern for our environment and the creatures with whom we share it.

Well, the weather outside may be freezing, but we’re glad to say the public’s reaction to our work for 019sweatershop (www.019sweatershop.com) is anything but chilly. 019 Sweatershop has brought fashionable knitwear design and manufacture back to the UK, using a unique technique that enables them to produce beautifully made, affordably priced garments in just one, stylishly seamless piece. And yes, their latest collection does include a selection of superb, seasonally patterned Christmas jumpers, well worth checking out.

One of the most gratifying series of events for us this year has been to win not just one, but three awards from Heart Internet. In April, this highly respected company, famed for bringing their customers cutting edge web hosting solutions at budget-sensitive prices, handed us their Bronze award for our site for Roger Griffiths, an accomplished photographer, (www.rogergriffithsphotography.co.uk).

In July, Heart made what had been a rainy summer bright and sunny for us with their Silver award for our www.funky-bunny.co.uk website – you may be dancing to Funky Bunny’s DJs out in the clubs over the holidays or boogying off all those Christmas calories at home to the top tunes on their online radio station.

Then, in September, proving that good things so often come in threes, our pulse was set racing yet again when we won the Heart Gold Award for www.swapboards.com a hi-energy site which, since its launch has become a frequently visited shopping and social hub for the snowboarding community.

So, may we take this opportunity to wish all our clients, suppliers and friends the happiest, webbyist Christmas and an even better New Year. Speaking of which, we’ve already got some big news lined up for January – details in our January blog …

Please note: Our office will be closed from Friday 21st December at 5pm, we will be back on Thursday 3rd January

Money, that’s what. Like so many other resources where rapidly surging demand has meant that supplies are dwindling, you may have noticed that the cash we’re being asked to pay for our favourite form of waterborne protein is doing the exact opposite to sinking out there in the shops these days. And precisely the same principle applies to those deliciously appetising, but oh-so-overfished, big keywords – we’ve regularly seen up to £40 a click and often considerably in excess of this.

All of which is why more and more companies are using SEO to ensure they float as quickly as possible to the surface of the increasingly deep and murky ocean of search results. And any SEO worth his or her salt will cast their net towards judicious use of the markedly better value offered by long-tail keywords.

When it comes to generating traffic, SEO is the way to go and we’ve got statistics to prove it, more of which later. But first, let’s suppose that you did want to take on the big players to compete for those upscale keywords – here’s a fun look at just what it would really take to reel in the profits:

Category: ‘Insurance’

Examples: ‘buy car insurance online’ and ‘auto insurance price quotes

Top ranked website for these keywords:

Confused.com

Most paid:

£34.58

How could you reach number one with this:

• Get more than 280,000 backlinks from north of 45,000 unique domains, ensuring that around 10% of them have anchor text including ‘credit’
• Generate 41,000+ unique, keyword related pages for your website
• Age your domain for around 16 years

And if you got all this right: you could earn £6,298,420 a year, which is quite a good year, we’re sure you’ll agree.

You get the picture, no doubt. So, given the fact that the above strategy would perhaps demand just a few too many hours and financial resources to accomplish, may we recommend Websmart SEO as a much more affordable and time-efficient route to the elevated rank your business deserves.

Earlier in this piece, we promised you a few recent examples of our SEO dexterity in action. The first we’d like to mention is the result of the latest stage of an ongoing SEO exercise we completed last month for our client Nags Essentials. The result of this endeavour was that www.nagsessentials.co.uk, stockists of esteemed country clothing brand Joules – and therefore featuring this keyword artfully incorporated into the text – was propelled to second position on the page, just below Joules themselves. High? Yes, that’s how we felt having achieved this.

It was also like an early Christmas present when we learned that our just launched site for Godwicks, who rear and distribute Norfolk’s finest free range turkeys especially for the upcoming yuletide festival, had entered the Googlesphere at number five, which was quite an achievement given the intense seasonal competition. But then, the very next day, things got even better when it soared on up to 4th place for Free Range Turkeys.

Finally, a few words about our client Robert Harwood, who are one of the UK’s foremost suppliers of lashing systems, lifting equipment and ratchet straps. Sounds like serious business and it is, because often, people’s lives depend on the quality and resilience of these products in testing and potentially dangerous circumstances. Which is why Robert Harwood only deal in the best. Stepping up to this responsibility in SEO terms, we made sure their website, www.rhtltd.co.uk was safely conveyed to Google’s No1 position in its search category

We’ve been in sailing through the often stormy waters of SEO since SEO was invented and one guiding principle we’ve learned is that in search, nothing stays the same. Search engines evolve all the time, introduce new algorithms, change the rules, move the goalposts – and we make sure we’re on top of each and every one of these changes, able to make them work for our clients.

We’re not fishing for complements here – but we do hope you’ll let us put our proven SEO expertise to work for you soon.
